Classics in Central Oxford

This was a grand gathering of XKs and E-Types and other Classics in historic Oxford. It was to welcome David Vincent (XK150) and Craig Gardner (E-Type) who were visiting all 61 British Cities in two weeks to raise money for charity.

Officially there are 61 Cities in mainland Britain and the planned route around them is about 3,000 mls. Saturday 5th June was the day they were in Oxford. Route map.

The charities being supported are:

   Cancer Research UK and
   Down's Syndrome Association.

More specifically for our event in Oxford, the contributions were to their local equivalents:
   Churchill Partnership and
   Down's Syndrome Oxford.

Please visit their web site and make a donation online.

David's Story
"We think it might be a tumour"
I was in Heartlands Hospital [Birmingham] in March 2008 when I first heard those words... The tumour turned out to be malignant - but hadn't spread to the lymph system ... but ... it may have got into my blood stream ... The course of "Chemo" lasted nearly 6 months ... 18 months down the line and at least I'm STILL BREATHING! The last scan was "clear". So that is GOOD.    Read more...

Alanna's Story
Alanna's mother writes, "Alanna was my first child. When she was born the mid-wives did all the usual things ... but she was taken away very quickly.

[Eventually] a Doctor came into the room ... He looked at me and said "We think that the baby has Down's Syndrome". As time went on ... I went into major depression ... I was in a very dark place ..."

"... if there were more, easily accessible support groups; more information about people who can help; or even something for people who just want someone to talk to, we would not have had to go through what we did."    Read more...
